I've still got a cardigan that I knitted in the 80s - only now it's been felted and turned into a bag!

This thread has made me think how few clothes I have, actually I've got a couple of smart/dressy things but otherwise I'm a jeans/t-shirt/jumper girl and they tend to be 'one on, one off and one in the wash'

Time to get out the best boiler suit I've ever had. Great for keeping warm on the plot in winter and no chance of builder's bum. Ex. CEGB circa 1965, patched a few times but still more material in them then any modern equivalent.

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

When they are well full and stretched they do not need ironing jacob

Are you saying you "fill" your boiler suit Jacob?

I have an Aran Jacket I knitted in 1970. Still gets the occasional outing when it's cold enough and still looks good.
My husband has a Bri Nylon jumper he bought in the early 1960's. Still gets the odd wearing and looks like new. No wonder they stopped making the stuff, we would never have needed new clothes.
Next oldest is a silk jacket I bought 22 years ago. Still gets worn a couple of times a year.
I tend to get very good wear from my clothes and don't buy just for the sake of buying.

OH recent;y threw out an old t-shirt of mine that was 16 years old. I had gotten it free with a pair of jeans and he "acquired" it (quite a few years after I first got it), and refused to let it go to a better place. Once it was no longer any good for daytime wear, he wore it for sleeping in - there was more hole than material in it when he finally agreed to let it go.....

I have a pair of army officers leather boots thet were my fathers given to him by his Co in 1945 or 46 & they were a year or two old then so my (still servicable)boots are at least 62years old
Ps I don't wear them very often.
I've got a pair of old, cracked and generally well worn para boots. Seen loads of service and plenty yet to go. I hope!

I have half a stolen WW1 blanket. My grandad got sent home wounded in it and my dad had it in his car when I got my first car in 1980 he cut it in half and it is in the boot of my car and the other part is in the boot of his.

Its great it is like tree bark but never stains.
