I shall be kind to my OH, who has been in Italy all week but gets home later this evening (BA allowing!) and who is decidedly miserable!!

    Keep em coming Wellie ....

Thanks moggssue, I will, and I know you're enjoying these Gentle Thoughts, because anyone who has 'Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance' under their posts, not only gets my attention, but makes me do it too, thank you!

Today's Gentle Thought from the book my Dad gave me says:

Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow.
      (Helen Keller)

Personally, I find joy very warming from within, and I'm not prone to saying stuff like that very often, but the older I get, definitely the more joy I'm getting..... and it feels so very lovely.......

Darlng, you do know how much 'thought' these give us all...?

And 'joy is a holy power'... I like that!

They're certainly making me think.... I'm thinking: "Have I posted that one up yet? Ooh, I'm not sure! Don't want to post the same one up twice, or they might notice.....!"

          And I've just checked - this one's a goody:

When we are flat on our backs there is no way to look but up.
          (Roger W. Babson)

That sounds like a pretty version of 'We might be lying in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.' A favourite sentiment, however expressed.

                So....

The tree which needs two arms to span its girth sprang from the tiniest shoot.
Yon tower, nine stories high, rose from a little mound of earth.
A journey of a thousand miles began with a single step.
                (Lao-tse)

I was a twinkle in my Daddy's eye once. Thank goodness for that....!

                  Gentle Thought for The Weekend....

The good neighbour looks beyond the external accidents and discerns those inner qualities that make all men human and, therefore, brothers.

                    And Today.....

When you cease to make a contribution you begin to die.
                    (Eleanor Roosevelt)

                    Bit severe there I thought!

OOoooo... maybe a bit severe, but I guess an element of truth...

                        This one made me laugh.

He was a tubby little chap who looked as if he had been poured into his clothes and had forgotten to say "when!"

I've recently read a potted biog of Mrs R, and this is EXACTLY the sort of thing she'd say - a very formidable woman!

Not a very gentle thought but a thought provoking one, nonetheless.

Might be a bit severe, but it certainly catches your attention and gives you pause for thought!

                              Bubblewrap, that's gorgeously priceless!

And I was very tempted to quote this particular one on the birthday of NTG, but didn't in the end....

Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with.
                              (Mark Twain)

                              - which, personally, I agree with in bucketfulls....!

How about one for this season of frantic gift-buying?

"A hug is the perfect gift - one size fits all and it is easily exchanged."

Don't know who said it but I am happy to repeat it!
