  • Just saying hi!

Just wanted to say hi as I find my way around GYO's Grapevine!

I've been an avid reader for months and finally found some spare time to log on to the website!

Look forward to meeting you all!

Helllo there and welcome to the Vine - Nice to meet you. Rock climbing and gardening - now, that's something you don't hear often Gardening, that's one thing but I must draw the line at rock climbing - scares the hell out of me.
You'll meet some lovely peeps here - I know I did.

Nicos! what a great idea... maybe I should expand a bit on me!!

I'm in the scottish borders and I have a wonderful 1/2 acre jungle.. i mean garden.

I have just badgered my hubby into building me some fabulous raised beds I have 6 that are 2 ft by 3 ft and one that is about 5 ft by 3 ft that my cloche fits on top of. His next big project is a greenhouse!!! i gurrently have quite a big growhouse and access to my grandfathers old greenhouse which is a 6x8ft one.

I also have in the jungle.. sorry.. there i go again... garden, a cooking aple tree an eating apple tree and a plum tree (are you getting a feeling of how non-exisitent my gardening knowledge is by my termiology yet??)

I tired a couple of years ago to grow "out of the ground" but it's just impossible here because of the yuccky earth! hence the raised beds.. i managed last years to plant several things that i had grown from seed in propogators and although most did actuallly come to something i went on hoiliday and i can back and things had either died or been eaten by the local wildlife!

I'm currently going therought my seeds just now to work out on paper what i'm doing next year as i want to really make the most of these beds.

that's me... in a rather large nut shell!!

Welcome to the Vine Cyanara. Good to have another Scottish Grape as we share similar problems. I have an acre of ground, mostly ornamental, and grow my edibles in raised beds and containers. It would be good to compare notes with you. Look forward to your posts.

Some great advice on here, and some really friendly folk. Even if you don't learn anyfing, hopefully you'll have a good time reading and posting.

Remember, and allotment (or jungle) is for life, not just for crisps.

Welcome Cyanara. We're all on a learning curve here - this year it's felt quite steep even to the old hands! In gardening there's always another season to look forward to.

                          Hi Cyanara,

Welcome to the vine, you will learn loads here and have a good laugh! Everyone is very friendly and no question is silly so go ahead and ask, like Alice says it is good to have another grape from Scotland as we can compare notes.

Do let us know how you are getting on and maybe post a pic of the jungle, would love to see it.
