  • Films - which do you quote & which would you like to have starred in?

Saw this BBC report earlier on the most commonly quoted films and which films 'most' men and women would have liked to star in:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7084423.stm

I think I probably have said 'I'll be back' once or twice and I've definitely used 'You talking to me?' and 'Do you feel lucky, punk?' (most recently to the brambles on my lottie ).

Of ones not mentioned, I really like the 'funny how?' scene from Goodfellas and incorporate bits of that into conversations quite often! 'As you wish' from The Princess Bride gets a fair bit of use too.

I have to take issue with the fact that women want to be in romantic movies though! Although I wouldn't pass up a love scene with Sean Bean I'd far rather be wearing a black suit and shades and looking scary in a Reservoir Dogs/Goodfellas/Godfather/Pulp Fiction sort of a way than prannying around in pink frills waiting for Mr Right to notice me

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

    Excellent thread SH!

I think my most quoted phrase has to be "Why I oughta...!" Used commonly by the Three Stooges (I think it was Moe).

As for which film would I most like to be in...probably anything alongside Heather Graham

I think that, for me, "Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings" from It's a wonderful life. Scared quite likes "You can't handle the truth" from a few good men and we both love "Oh my God, what a f**ki?g nightmare" that well known line from My Cousin Vinny.

"I'm going to slap you like a red headed step child" from a Stephen Segal film.

Often used when playing our neighbouring Rugby club, Stoneygate in the cup (well, they are all named Tarquin or Peregrine).

Unfortunately, 3 kids have taken their toll, and the thing I qoute most often is Fireman Sam... Particularly "Don't dither in the doorway, my lovely" (Dilys Price - Welsh accent!)

Madmax and I are both to be heard saying "I feel the need, the need for speed", I think this is from Top Gun but couldn't say for sure. Usually said when either one of us is driving a certain big black V8 Rover TP Vitesse (nicknamed Animal), and been stuck behind fogey drivers all the way to the dual carriageway!
