Free and fun way to donate rice to help end world hunger

I have to say I'm usually very dubious about this sort of thing but this one does seem legit. It's basically a vocab quiz and the more questions you get right, the more rice is donated to hungry nations via the UN. It's funded by the ads but I have only a basic firewall/pop-up blocker set up and couldn't see any ads at all! It was featured on the BBC's webpages today:

Thanks for that Seahorse. I've saved it to favourites and I'll donate my rice. But what upsets me is, why do we have to play games to donate the rice. The stuff is there. Why can't we just give it to the people who need it.
I think I know what the answer to that question is - so why don't we just give the MONEY !!!

Agreed. I have two thoughts on this

1. Why not just give the bloody rice
2. If the developing world is relying on the standard of English used by the average Briton in the 21st Century to save them from starvation, they are doomed.

And it has an added bonus for us... my DFD (dear Foster Daughter) has just picked up the dictonary and has been playing it all morning - she is learning new words, thier meanings, how to use a dictionary and is getting some satisfaction that she is helping those "not as lucky as me" (her words!)

Agree that we should just give the rice, however, it can't hurt to join in. Cor, I feel quite pleased wiv myself never knew i knew so many words! Got to 2000 but am now being pestered to make some lunch!

Hi Alice,

There is a "seed for live" program which is organized by one of the Belgium.
He is asking for warm seasons seeds ( like; tomato, melon, paprika,aubergines, pumpkin, squashes, cucumber... any warm seasons seed from our kitchen, be it from supermarket/ shop bought source or home grown source) for a refuge camp which is under the UN.

Sorry about the language issue, if I may, allow me to translate it.

UNICEF Sahrawis refuge camp in south west Algeria.

On 1995 Mr. Cothem was ask by UNICEF Algeria to be the adviser for family and school garden of Sahrawis refuge camp in the south west of Algeria.
From a research he found out that most of the refuges are nomad and fisherman who has been living in the camp for more than 30 years.
Mr. Cothem has been teaching them to improve their soil, to make use of minimum fertilizer and minimum water usage.
As Algeria is part of sahara desert it has 4 seasons. The autumn and winter is from September to January ( which they plant: salad, red beet, carrot, onion, parsley…) and the spring and summer is from February to august ( which they can plant: melon, water melon, pumpkin/squash, paprika ,avocado, papaya, aubergine).
The project has gathered enough seeds for winter planting but still need a lot of tropical/ warm season seeds as they are too expensive to get there plus with very limited varieties.
He plea for the solidarity of the Belgian, The expatriate in Belgium and Any one who wish to help. The project is not asking for financial help but any left over seeds from our kitchen ( such as : melon, water melon, squash, paprika, tomato… any seeds that is suitable for warm season growing). Any amount of seeds are welcome be it small or big as they are very needed by the refuge.
The seeds collections time will be open until the end of 2008. The address is :
