  • Update, re last nights chat...

I spoke to my mother this morning and this evening. She still is a bit achy (especially in some positions), but she is up and about. She went shopping with a friend to the supermarket (though she lent on the trolley). She sounded better than yesterday (tired, drained, in pain...). She's trying to keep mobile so she doesn't get stiff.

Oh, what did I miss? Though glad she sounds a bit better (from the tone of the post?)

She fell from a loose paving stone in Leicester yesterday. She got herself up and onto train then coach from where my brother picked her up in the car. This morning though, it took her an hour to get dressed.....

Glad to hear she's OK Multiveg. Somehow the day after an incident like that always proves to be the more painful as everything 'goes into shock' around the affected area.
I hope she improves daily and is soon back to her normal self....

I'm so glad that it sounds like nothing is toooo serious, MV - although your mum is clearly a tough cookie, it's tricky not to worry, isn't it?

Hope her recovery continues apace - tho' do tell her that 'taking it easy' isn't a crime??

Pleased to hear she is up and about MV. Suspect she will have a few more sore days till the bruises 'come out' properly. If she won't listen to you advising to take it easy, tell her there is a whole Grapevine full of people wishing her to rest and put her feet up for a few days - it might work

You never feel it as badly at the time as you do in the following few days. As long as there are no breaks she's doing the right thing to keep everything moving (but slowly and gently) Send her all our best wishes.
My Ma (86) had a fall a year ago and badly bruised her arm and shoulder. Shoulder very stiff afterwards and she ended up being referred to a physio. I persuaded her to come with me to T'ai Chi which she now does weekly. It's made a world of difference to her joint mobility. I'm very glad of this as I believe in the 'use it or lose it' theory.

Have you some arnica you could give her for when the bruises do come up? It really does help them to go down again much quicker.

I hope your mum is feeling better soon though - and that she can take it fairly easy for the next little while.

Ohh, Mum MV - hope you keep on recovering, take it nice and slow and gentle and you'll get there just the same.
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Yes arnica pillules are excellent for bruising and trauma. Witch hazel applied directly to the bruisig is good too as long as there are no broken areas of skin.
Has your Mum been checked out by a DR (sorry Nursey head)? Might be a good idea.
Am doing some distance healing later so will send some healing energy!

She went to docs and was given non-steroidal anti inflammatories. She's been shopping and that.
As for me, yesterday I found out I could have another allotment. I was reading the letter while I walked to collect my son from school yesterday - tripped and fell almost flat on my face. Banged knee and ribs so am feeling a bit achy. Last night, son threw up 3 times. Bugs doing the rounds. Hubby had felt a bit yucky earlier in week.
