In case no-one took the hint! I bought myself a length of Enviromesh the other day.

I have requested bags of compost - I don't drive so I'm asking people who do to collect me a bag for Christmas. I'll settle for a bow on top instead of wrapping!

Other than that, I'd like our usual family Christmas and lots of carol services to attend. I'm always hoarse by Christmas Day - a blessing, say the family!

I'd love to have a bat box ( but unless someone mentions it to my OH , I'll still be wanting one for my birthday!!)

Gardening gloves would be handy as the mice always seem to use them as nesting material overwinter !!

Sounds like a good list! The only replacement glass I would need is a full one though!

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Apart from the odd bit of preserving and sorting Christmas cakes and pudding I'm not thinking about Christmas for at least another month yet. Don't like this merging of seasons where we jump from Halloween to Christmas to Easter without enjoying the bits in between!

Heated propagatorisers are on my list. Not much else, I'm a man of simple needs..........or was that just a simple man, I never can remember.

Apart from sending cards about a week before I don't "start" Christmas until the weekend before. Advent is for anticipation - not flogging yourself to death!

I am trying to do a "flylady" this Christmas. She is planning on being on a cruise departing on 1st December - itinerary to be decided. But that means everything has to be done before 1st December.

I may not actually get to depart on the cruise (ie I won't be finished by then), but I am aiming to have as much of the prep done by then so that I can enjoy the run up to the celebration. So I am buying a few presents once or twice a week on a lunchtime amble around the shops. Writing a few cards at a time while watching tv at night. Making sure I have the wrapping paper, ribbons, selotape, batteries, candles etc all bought before stocks run low. Have the big grocery shopping list already for an early morning foray once the kitchen is finished.

So I should be able to enjoy: Get to wander round the shops people watching rather than frantically buying every knick-knack I see. Sit in coffee shops or pubs with warm drinks relaxing out of the cold. Bring the toddler to see Santa in a proper setting (there's an open farm that always does a good show, I'm told, that we will go to when visiting the family before the hols). Get to a few carol services and music concerts. Practise my guitar enough that I can bring it to the creche for an afternoon of kiddie carols. Make time to meet with friends for proper lunches. Bake biscuits with the toddler.

And be rested and relaxed enough that I can enjoy the day, all the visiting and the fun in the kitchen, without breaking a sweat.
