Five generations!!!

My mother(78) is the youngest of six (1 brother) the eldest 95.Five of the six are still very much alive.
The next youngest sister celebrated her diamond wedding earlier this year. I have lost count of their children, grand/great grand children.

Congratulations! A new baby is always such a special time.

Our new grandaughter (Erin Kate) was born three weeks ago, she has an older brother (Tom) now aged two. Sadly my own Nan is no longer with us and I often think how much she would have adored her great great grandchildren. I'm thinking about her especially today as it would have been her 88th birthday. We are lucky really in that my own children knew her, (and two of their other great grandmothers) Whereas I didn't meet any of my great grandparents, in fact they'd all been gone for some considerable time when I was born. It's a sign that we're all living much longer these days I suppose. So here's to five generation families, let's hope it becomes the norm, I'd love to see Tom and Erin's grandchildren. (Not sure I'm too keen on the idea of five generations of girls though - phew!!!)

oohhh, congratulations!!! Can't get to 4 generations for me, since my parents are already gone, might make it with OH's 15yr old daughter in anohter 10 or so years....

Hope mum and new daughter are both well? What a great christmas its going to be, though santa might need some help!

I've got 4 on 2 sides:

My Mum's mum is 91 - 3 kids alive and well, 11 grandkids (from 33 down to 17) and 3 greatgrandkids (my toddler, and my cousin has a 30 month old and a 3 month old).

My Dad's parents are both 88, and have 6 kids surviving. There are 8 grandkids (from 33 years to 30 months!!) and 1 greatgrandchild (again, my toddler).

It's really great when you have long lines like this,, and the older generations can see the next ones coming on again.

My elder daughter was a stepmother at 20,step-mum to a 19 and a 21 year old and at 21 a step grandmother!!
Which made us at a terribly young age great grand-parents.
