Gargle with aspirin. Honey, lemon and glycerin to drink and lots of icecream!

For this past 4 days, due to my severe flu and sore throat, I have been very frequently drinking water ( with lemon juice a spoonfull of honey), talk very less, and a lot of rest.
And yes, I am feeling beter now ...

Ah, Momol - it's the talking less that I have a problem with!

Agree with MandyBallatyne, with the following additions:
If it is after school and you can safeyl do so (and feel like it), add a tot of whiskey or brandy to the hot lemon mix.
Anytime, add a couple of paracetemol tablets to help you feel somewhat human.

And keep some vaseline handy for the dry lips and the sore nose.

Good to see you online Flum, this way you and I don't have to talk but type
but you are not having the sore throat are you ?
            He he he...
As for me, I was home alone, it helps in " not to talk"

Just don't use the paracetamol at the same time as the alcohol - VERY nasty combination for the liver.

My uncle always said a piece of greasy bacon on a string and you swallow it and pull it back. Repeat about 10 time and you problem will be gone...... along with your dinner

I use alot of good old Buttercup Syrup, especially this last week when my voice was at full pelt in the theatre and it was rather sore (although obviously not infected).

We also all hit the Echinacea as someone backstage had a cold! Seemed to work, none of us got it.

Since I've started taking one multivitamin tablet each day I don't seem to be bothered with colds, sore throats or flu etc! (Says he touching wood!)

MV's are excellent for hangovers as well!

feeling a lot better now, thanks everyone for the advice! really appreciate it! probably panic when i get a sore throat because have had pharangitis on several occasions (can't spell that) and have been really poorly at times, obviously prone to it developing! i take multivitamins especially with being veggie and still seem to catch things, had cold sores the week before like you would not believe, but then again chickenpox is on the rounds again with some older children developing shingles from it in the school, really bizarre, appeared on my face and stomach for a cpl of days, but understand that they aren't related? is there a doctor in the house?
