    Similar but different:

I just bought a new steam iron for boyfriend's house, it had all the features I wanted such as: non-drip.
    It drips.
Big wet blobs all over the dry washing, its such a pain.
I should take my own advice and take it back to T*sco, but I just can't be bothered. My old Philips steam iron is still going strong, maybe I'll dig it out of the cupboard.

Iron? have one but only use it to iron on patches on my jeans.
Got better things to do than ironing.

I take it all back! Having recieved an unexpected confession from a small child, I was able to locate the problem. A large amount of one pence pieces in the waste trap! Oh well, at least it gave me the incentive to find out a bit more about how this sort of thing works and how to trouble shoot!

I need another freezer and I've just looked up Miele, god they're expensive! £600+ .However it was one of the most energy efficient.
Are there any British firms out there still making things in this country? Need a new gas cooker as well, and I can't find out where things are made.
Sorry, on a bit of an anti-China thing at the moment...Hate the fact that everything I buy seems to come from China. And it's so hard to find British products, they're often there but hard to source or locate - madness.

This list might help Sue? http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/module...egories&cid=13
I haven't looked at the rest of the site yet, but I'm going to - I need a new washer, never had a proper 'new' one before (always hand-me-down) so I want to know which is best in my price range.

Why did I look at this thread yesterday? Our washing machine was unplumbed for the past 7 weeks due to the building works but the builders got it back into a temporary spot yesterday and replumbed. So last night we put on a load (rather than bagging up for yet anther trip to launderette today- he's making a fortune off us in the past couple of minths!). Part way through, there is a horrible noise, and the pump ios working hard but not making any progress. So we had to turn it off and we'll rinse the clothes by hand tonight. The machine has seen a fair bit of use, but is only about 5 years old (we had to get a washer-dryer when we moved 5 1/2 years ago).

We were going to get a seperate tumblle dryer once the builders were gone as we have space for it again. And a bigger fridge/freezer (old one going to DH's uncle whose own has died), and seperate freezer for the shed. But it now looks like my shed freezer will have to wait as we will need a new washing machine as well. I'd better not have too many lottie gluts for a while yet.

Interesting site thankyou, ploughed through the manufacturers and as you'd expect hardly anything now made in the UK. There's companies from Poland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey, USA, Korea and you've guessed it China.
There were two that were possible UK made, and looked at their products and they're no good for me, wrong size, mains ignition, too big etc.
                              Oh, well

Our dishwasher is a SMEG. Most energy efficient one we could find in our price range.

As for UK manufacture, I have to say that we are a victim of our own doing on that one. We (UK economy) always want to pay the lowest price for the things we buy, but we want to be paid the most for what we do. Something has to give.
