You laugh, but the thought had crossed my mind. Plus, as lady HW and I are thinking about starting a family next year, we'd be alright for child care...

Just tell him he's got 7 grand's worth. That'll cheer him up! It's probably gone up in the last 3 years too!

Yay, thanks! He's coming home today. My brother is going to visit him, and said he'd give him a lift back at the same time.

And you Lou. Reckon he'd be alright to give me a hand on the plot on Sunday?
              Joking of course!

I'll do my best to make sure he gets to see his grandkids!

Great to hear your Dad is coming home

                Claire
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Glad your dad is on the mend Wayne - now you have to keep him on the straight and narrow, which I'm sure you're more than capable of ... ! (Practice for his grandkids?!)

And hereditary conditions aren't the problem these days of medical advances that they might have been even just 10 years ago.

Glad to hear your Dad is doing well HW! Paddy, our i/c allotments here in Penwortham, Preston had a heart attack last year (before I met him) but by george! I never knew when I met him - and he's as fit as a fiddle and cuts all the grass on the lottie site and helps everyone who meets him -a fine example of a chap who has recovered - just as I know your Dad will. Please pass on our love to him. Dexterdog

Yikes HW!! What a lot has been happening to you. Hope your dad is recovering quietly from all the excitement and hope he is settling into a new routine.

I know what you mean HW... both my grandmothers passed away relatively young by today's standards but I like to think we can buck the trend with our home grown produce and healthier lifestyle!

                              Home to his (and Ma's).

Didn't get the chance to go and see him this weekend (at the outlaws in Sheffield on Saturday, then we had people over yesterday evening - most of the day was spent getting ready for that), so we'll probably pop in one night this week. I was on the plot yesterday morning and was thinking about looking forward to him being able to come down with me in the new year and help out. He really enjoys being outside, so hopefully the plot will be a good motivator for him to get well (but no sooner than recommended!).

Indeed, I'm currently sat here at my desk, having eaten my fruit salad (which we've been eating for a while now, but recently upped the quantities), and I've reduced my Marmite on toast to two slices rather than four, with less Marmite on each slice too.

Currently supping a cup of peppermint tea.

Toad in the hole for dinner tonight though!
