Parking is a nightmare, I know and so many people get away with parking in bus stops, bike lanes etc ... we all see police drive past and do nothing.
But...
The nasty kebab man has finally got a parking ticket, hurrah!
He always parks his vehicles on the double-yellows and pavements outside here, semi-blocking the road, a ped.crossing and the view of other drivers coming round the corner.
We can never park outside our house either, but we just go two streets away and that's that. This guy thought he should park where he wanted. Today the police turn up and ticket him; he goes spare, swearing and saying they were picking on him, there was nowhere to park, they were ruining his business.. blah blah.
The officer just phoned for backup and let him rant.
the backup officer knew this nasty kebab man of old and said he'd had plenty of warnings before and no tickets, and was taking the p*ss. He explained the reason that double-yellows were on this narrow road on a corner (!)
He also pointed out a space just down the road and told him, rightly, that he was too lazy to walk a couple of yards. Kebab man then calms down a lot, and accepts his punishment.
