Much as I love driving it's getting blummin expensive!

Just forked out £361 on four new tyres!!!

One area you can't afford to cut corners on (forgive the pun) is tyres, t'is them what keeps you on the road, so I always buy the best I can.

Mange tout, the good thing is, they come to me and fit them in the car park at work.

I drive a S reg Renault Clio, heater doesn't work and neither do the seats, I can't fold them down, you have to climb over the front seats, but then it gets me back and to work, very very high mileage on the clock, (ex driving instructors car) 123,000 plus, but then again have only thrown around £300 at it in terms of repairs etc for the past 8 years, not bad going I say, would like a newer car but can't afford at the moment.

When I worked for HM Customs (would have resigned if I was still there when they merged with the Revenue) I got to drive loads of fancy stuff - BMW's, Mercs, 1928 Cadillac, 1929 Cadillac (both looked like gangster cars with the wooden spoke wheels, running boards etc, Pantera De Villes and tops was a Ferrari Testarossa (in Ferrari red natch). It had been in storage for 6 months and we had to get it jump started, then drove round to local garage to fill it with go juice for journey to the office. Stopped at pump, filled it with juice - wouldn't start - had to buy new battery. All the while, sales reps were filling up and ogling me and my mate - both dressed real scruff - and so as we were fitting a new battery, we were both kicking the tyres and proclaiming the Testa to be " a piece of Italian sh*t" and that we "wouldn't buy another one" !! LOL. Got it started, drove round to nearest custome office to make phone call, and were followed into car park by traffic police - conversation went something like this. Polis "Is this your car sir?" Me "Nope" Polis " Whose car is it then sir ?" Me "Her Majesty's" I then started to get cheeky - turns out all he wanted was to sit in it !!
And you know what - I wouldn't buy one - don't like driving whilst laid on my back !!

Saw the seventh (there were only 6 ever made by Bugatti) one ever made of these at the recent Classic Car Show - it was fuuuuge!! Apparently the dude that owns/owned it wanted one so bad he had one built from scratch!

If we're talking vintage I'd have a Talbot Lago T150 SS - top of this page: Google Image Result for http://www.ritzsite.net/Loo1999/Talbot_Lago_T150_SS_coupe_Figoni_et_Falaschi_1937.jpg

                            Whereas I think they're beautiful....

I love having a car which looks very boring and staid, but actually goes like stink; my last car was a very boring looking N reg Mondeo, no badges or anything, but was actually hiding a 2.5l engine, great fun leaving the BMWs etc standing. Unfortunately, she needed loads of mechanical work doing, so she got traded in, and I now have a very humble looking Vreg Focus, with a tuned 2l engine - also leaves the Beamers behind!

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit I drive an H-reg Toyota Surf SSR (Jap import, big 4x4 thingy) but in fairness, it was a local guy who was selling it, it's the only car we have, it does everything we need it to do, and reliably, and we don't have any foreign holidays ever so our carbon footprint is balanced out.
