  • My greenhouse smells like a starbucks

Seen it mentioned someplace before that Starbucks are giving away free used coffee grinds for you to use. On my various travels last week got them in the London oxford circus and Manchester Trafford center branches. Great for plants that need a nitrogen boost and for making your greenhouse smell nice

Wow Andy, you do travel - Manchester and London in one week...

I've asked our local town braches here in London and they looked at me like I was a nutter as they hadn't heard about the fact they were giving them away and said no (mind you I probably do look like a nuttr and maybe they fibbed to get m out of the shop quicker )

Maybe I'll try the ones mmore central near where I work....

It was me who first posted this - both Starbucks outlets in Inverness (yes, hard to believe but we have two !) are doing this - so that would suggest that it is a national policy - I'd keep badgering your local outlets too.

I found out about this last year from an American site and promptly got in touch with the Starbucks outlets in Edinburgh and each and everyone of them said 'No'.

Maybe I should get in touch with them again. I get a regular supply from my coffee feind of a partner, but a big free bag from starbucks would be very grateful. I find that if you sprinkle coffee grinds around your carrots they dont get affected by carrot fly - well I've never had carrot fly and I've always sprinkled coffee grinds around them - it was a tip from an old neighbour I think.

Manchester is close to where I live so thats not counted as travel really London was a treck though. In Manchester it's self the Oxford Road store does'nt have them (I checked this morning), I guess it depends on store size but surely every store will produce enough to do this. I am also sourcing mine from a local coffee shop as well as any I can source from StarBucks, if you have a local coffee shop ask them to bag up the grinds (if you keep a plot you may need a good size qty which the shop will produce in a day).
