Almost snap Jennie but we are having Welsh salt marsh lamb which as every one knows is the sweetest, tastiest lamb in the world. Like Wayne I've drawn the short straw and will be cooking for 7 this year. For dessert its Pumpkin Pie
requested by Daughter to cries of oooh yes please from several of the others.
It's not the growing old I mind but the growing stupid with it!

It is so mega easy to bone out birds - and therefore stuff with other birds. Small sharp knife and a steady hand is all you need. It's got to be cheaper that £90 even for quality ingredients - you're paying for someone else to do what you could do yourself - like paying a gardener!

      Tightwad Flum!

I agree to a certain extent Flum (not the tightwad bit, the boning bit), but in addition to the sharp knife and steady hand, you also need to have a bit of an idea about what you're doing, and a bit of time. Neither of which either me or Lady C have in abundance unfortunately.

£90 is expensive - I nearly fell over when Lady C told me, but the bird (which "landed" this morning) is going to feed 8 people, all of which have healthy appetites, so if you work back it's only going to be about £11 a head - which I don't think is too bad. Lookin at the bird, and given that there's going to be very little in the way of waste, I'd say it's going to feed nearer 10-15 people - it's fuuuge! 15 people would work out about £6 a head. Lady C's in banking, so it's been worked out to the enth degree...

They've also included a bag with all the giblets in - no idea what to do with them yet...

Put them in a saucepan of water, bring to the boil and then simmer gently for a 20 mins to a half hour. Use the stock to make gravy by whatever method you prefer (for me it is add enough water to make the amount required, then use bisto gravy powder)
