Well done newbie, I bet it's the nicest leek you've ever eaten!

Nice looking leek Newbie. Enjoy. I like them young and tender rather than old and coarse.
Mine did well too. Have been eating them as baby leeks as vegetables for the table and still got some in the ground for winter soups.

What sort of size do you use them for baby leeks Alice? I still have some in a bucket where they have been waiting for me to find someplace to plant them out. Guess they are fat pencil/thin finger sized

Use them Shirl, too late to plant out now and they will still taste good.

Cheers, they seem quite happy and I sort of loosen them out a bit from time to time. Just haven't got as much gardening done as I had hoped this year. Never mind, there is always next year!

You can use them any size you like Shirl. Small baby ones - just slice and sautee in butter for 1 minute until just wilted. Makes a great bed, or topping, for salmon steaks. Add a tomato and tarragon sauce, your own baby carrots, roast potatoes and you're away.
AND - what a lecherous lot you are.
