  • Funny old day

Today would have been my tenth wedding anniversary (technically still is, given how long legal stuff takes). My (soon to be)exH left me on New Years Eve 2006 and although I'm a far happier person without him, well, you can't help a little wistfulness for what could and should have been, can you?

I was all set to treat it as any other day but this morning I went out into the garden to find my greenhouse in a sad little heap on the floor! It was only a plastic one and I knew it's lifespan was limited but - eh! - timing!

Well anyway, I've decided that as a combined 'un-anniversary' and 'Christmas on tick' pressie, I shall be getting a new proper greenhouse And I think I'll go crank out Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' one more time...

    Claire
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Good for you girl - just make sure you bolt your proper greenhouse down well (mine isn't properly fixed down yet and I panic every time there is a strong wind) I love that track too!

Yes, it is, isn't it! I have got over my 'moment' now and am dreaming of all the things I'm going to put in my greenhouse this spring

That's the spirit girl! You've always got friends here - and some really practical help offered by the wonderful Piggies. As the woman said, "Tomorrow is another day." And as the man said, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"
Keep your sense of humour - it will see you through a lot.

I dumped my Ex this time last year. Xmas was horrible, cold and lonely (except for my lovely family who rallied round with the Harveys and pudding). I didn't want to be with him, but I didn't want to be on my own. I nearly went back to him on Xmas Eve, but saw sense and got over it... now with a terrific guy, no table manner but what the heck

Claire, you'll have good days and bad days, but hopefully there will be more good than bad. At least now you can make your life what you want it to be instead of worrying about an inconsiderate selfish *******. Good luck with the new greenhouse, look forward to the new year of sowing and growing, and if you don't go out to celebrate New Year's Eve I expect there will be a few of us on the Vine to keep you company.

Claire - sorry to be a bit late, but just want to echo whats already been said on here. Keep going, keep smiling, you definitely have friends on here and every day gets better doesnt it. My ex left on Boxing Day 12 years ago (after 7yrs of marrige) and though at the time I thought it was the worst day of my life, in hindsight it was probably the best!!

Good luck with the greenhouse - heres to lots of happy growing
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

I would just like to wish all of you who have had bad experiences with men 'good luck' in finding the right guy. There are wonderful men out there as well as the rotters. Madmax is just superb and I wouldn't trade him for anything - not even a garden sized polytunnel and perfect growing weather with no bugs!

Keep looking and don't write them all off girls!
