  • I rock!

No, not the latest garden ornament that plays music by Apple, but the fact that (modesty aside), I rock.

I'll give you a little history before I share my good news.

As some of you know, I'm responsible for the marketing of the UK subsidiary of a German owned company. Historically the UK (my) way of doing things has been slightly different to the German ways of doing things - something that has caused friction in the past. About once or twice a year, me and all my international colleagues are called to Germany to discuss "global" marketing strategy and tactics - and often this involves Germany presenting their latest idea/s - me disagreeing with them - then the majority of the other subsidiaries agreeing with me (hence the friction). During the last year we (the UK) have redeveloped our website - it's been created differently to the German website, but with an attempt to tow the company branding line. Anyway - comments have been made ever since that ours is better than the Germans, both by customers and colleagues - easier to navigate, simpler to use, more "dynamic" etc etc. All of which is very nice, but not the reason we did it.

I was asked to attend a meeting yesterday in Germany to discuss "the internet" - just me, and "the Germans". (I told my boss that if he hadn't heard from me in 24 hours to call Interpol!) I was there with the global head of Marcomms (Marketing Communications for those that don't know), the owner of the German advertising and design agency, and a few other key managers from our company. Net result of the meeting - I am to go over again in January with my web agency to start getting the global website put together in the style of the UK website.

The head of Marcomms also said to me "this is just the beginning..." - so who knows what I'll be doing next!?

Needless to say I'm a little chuffed (as is my MD) - it made the 5am to 10:20pm day more palettable!

Just thought I'd share that with you - I'm like an excited kid!

He he, usually I would. Then again, who needs to celebrate to have a bottle.

However - after recent events with my Dad, on the advice of my GP, I had a blood test this morning and my blood pressure taken. BP is something like 158/110 so I've got to go back again next week (3rd time) to have it checked again, and get the results of the blood test.

Having said that, after yesterday (rubbish journey) it's no wonder my blood pressure's a little high...

              HW, you do indeed rock!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

...and roll kid! Cut the salt - you don't need it - add lemon juice to things instead. A drop of red is said to be good for the heart - my excuse anyway!

Well done, no wonder you're chuffed to little mint balls.

Cheers ma! We're a low-salt household, have been for years. We soon notice if something has salt in it (that horrid feeling at the back of your throat).

Oh! So many unsuitable-for-a-family-forum-comments I could make! Nowt 'little' about our HW, I don't think!
