  • Dieting before Xmas binge

Almost 2 weeks to go, anyone up for a warm up dieting before the big binge?

I wanted to slim down by Xmas but missed all the deadlines from Aug onwards coz food got in the way . I'm going for Protein/Atkins diet having had a good helping of carbs to keep me reasonably sane . I hate that horrible guilt/bloaty feeling after Xmas so it makes good sense to sort out the body now. And should you then wish to lose weight as your NY resolution, it's less of an uphill struggle.

    Yep - I'm game

I'm currently using the FitBug system, but am doing really badly as someone keeps putting vodka and crisps in front me and telling me I can't leave the room until they have all gone

PS - I am sitting here eating 87grams (I kid you not) of pringles........

Basically don't go for a fad diet like the Atkins one - it's never good to cut out a food type, you're much better just eating a bit less, more healthily generally and upping your exercise.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have almost hit my Christmas target (only 8 little ounces left to go....), but our office Christmas lunch (always followed by an afternoon in the pub) is on tomorrow, and I haven't managed to get to swimming all week. So I may not make it....(have been working actively on this since June and am 18lbs down - I reckon eating lots of fresh fruit and veg, and cutting my bread down immensely, have been the main factors).

My last weigh-in before Christmas is Thursday of next week and I have cunningly arranged the lunch with friends for immediately after this!! With the early morning swim club's annual champagne brekkie the following morning - to get the festive season off with the right sort of bang!!

I think its too late for me now - stone and a half just isnt going to go before I have to get into my posh frock on new years eve so it'll have to be a post christmas diet for me ... and fingers crossed for the dress haah!
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Well...I really would LOVE to join you ()...... but I've got to try and eat up the contents ( well....not ALL of them) of the freezer to make way for the Xmas food shopping ( someone's got to do it!!)

I'm trying to be good this Chrsitmas too as i'm getting married in April & can't afford not to fit into my dress (1st fitting 2nd week of January - HOW UNFAIR IS THAT!!)!

We got a dog about 3 months ago & walking her everyday has already helped me lose 9lbs. My friend is also getting married in a year & has been bullying me into going swimming & a tone-zone class and today she's forcing me to go to the gym - however her nagging & bullying is the only way i'm going to get there! I find having someone to do it with keeps me at it for longer (so to speak!)

I think also the stress of catering for 8 family members on Christmas day including parents & in-laws to be who have not met before will keep away from the mince pies & quality street and opting for a more alcoholic dinner!
                Jane,
                keen but (slightly less) clueless

They say with Pringles, "Once you pop, you can't stop!" I'm so NUTS for Pringles, more so than chocolate.

Guess what, just had a mince pie (pure carb)! I'm a fan of Atkins since it was possible to lose 1/2 stone in 2 weeks (okay not real sustainable weight loss) then it won't work no more that you have to find another diet regime. Any kind of low calorie diet is like starvation diet for me so will also use Hay diet of separating protein and carb by 4-5 hours.

Sounds like realistic and sustainable weight loss over a good period of time, the last time I lost that much, I had started from August with regular exercise on cross trainer.

Same here, been meaning to clear up the freezer not for the Xmas food as we go away for Xmas anyway but for buying the leftover festive food when they're reduced down to almost nothing .

Very unfair but still better to have a good reason. Good luck!

Well I'm not dieting but I always give up alcohol for Advent (and Lent) - it makes me enjoy the drinkie-poos more after an absence. I was jolly glad I had on Saturday night. We had a re-union dinner for the old staff from our school (the school closed down 18 months ago) and although I drank 1 glass of orange and 3 of water I still woke feeling muzzy headed and tired - I put that down to not eating till 9.00 p.m. Heaven know what I'd have been like if I'd been on the tipple! Looking forward to Christmas!

I have been on the Slim-Fast diet for a couple of weeks already, lost 5 lbs over 3 weeks (with a break of a week while I went to visit Madmax). Still need to lose a good stone but that is an ongoing target.

                        Winter Exercise program...

                        Take one Weetabix biscuit.

                        Take an Aero chocolate bar.

Crumble the Aero over the Weetabix.

                        Voila! AEROBIX !

                        ~

For a more balanced diet I would assume that the weetabix is crucial I Nicos - fibre!
