Of course, drinking lots of water can help massively too, as thirst is often mistaken for hunger.

veg4681, I don't know the slimming world diet, but I am able to eat meat (chicken, beef, lamb and pork are all "free") and fish with my pasta or brown rice (I eat white still, but that's from my luxuries budget). And I'm not the most disciplined about it either - I still have the odd gorgonzola pasta (with added bacon pieces), or creamy sauces. And you are supposed to have 2 teaspoons of fats like olive oil a day (unsaturated?). I still have "normal" meals with a mix of everything, but I try to have really full flavoured cheeses and just a little of them, and I have switched from low fat to skim milk for my cereal and tea at work.

I had been steadily creeping upwards since I got married, but while at college last year, the lure of warm, fresh scones with butter and jam for brekkie, and unlimited muffins and biccies at every teabreak (I was in a great college!!) were just too much. So between those and a hectic lifestyle meaning more takeaways than was good for me, I needed the "re-training" option.

And I found because I had more fresh veg this summer, I was eating better anyway. I've managed to continue that (albeit with shop stuff, not half as tasty) into the winter with a large lunchbox containing a few leaves of lettuce, half a pepper, a carrot and a couple of tomatoes for lunch most days. LOADS of food, but much healthier. So I am not just losing weight but feeling better too.

Hah me too, that where my spare pounds (ok stones!) came from. When I stopped smoking I put on a couple of stones and don't exercise enough (or I drink too much!) to lose it.

got to agree with a lot of posts here, i do agree that altering your diet for good is right, also HW's comment, drink more water and also dieting to retrain your body, at the end of the day you have to be happy with yourself and your weight, good luck to everyone, would like to know what everyone considers their ideal weight/size? sometimes what you see in the mirror is not what other people see, women often think they are bigger than they are, one of my friends is always commenting about her size, yet i don't see it like she does, what do you think?
