Don't recognise the boat name but know the Haven. I suspect you may have visited after I left the Fisheries office - was the fish market on the dry dock side when you were there?

Where in the Dales Seahorse? One of the villages where you have to win the lottery to buy a one-roomed "cottage"?!

It seems like going to Uni is a big thing in moving people out of their local area. I've got 3 sisters who all went off to Uni, and none of them moved back here afterwards...

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Lol! Um, yeah! Although that belies our actual financial circumstances (Mum brought me up on her own and we were really quite poor until I was in my late teens!). Grew up in a C17th farmhouse in Nidderdale (featured on 'Time Team' a couple of years ago, with my Uncle & Aunt who currently farm there!) then moved further down the valley to a place in Killinghall (just North of Harrogate) then to a little hamlet a couple of miles away.

I love Skipton btw - some happy memories of days out there
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

My cousin lives near Skipton, Sarwix - I do hope that it has not changed since I was there a few years ago - a fabulous market town and they have the BEST PORK PIE SHOP EVER but I can't remember the name. Overlooks the river.

My cousin & family lived in a cottage in the woods right by the Strydd (Strid? Stridde? Anyway - scarey (sorry Clare) fast flowing water course) on the Bolton Abbey estate (cousin in law was a landscape gardener working at the estate)

                              Must go back there.

Good thread this, BTW - even if it just shows me as a real homebody who's not moved out her own head, as it were...

Yes,every time I go down for a family "do".Mainly funerals nowadays I'm afraid, but I tell myself it's only a couple of hours down the road if I get desparate.
