Guys I've just rec'd a Tesco DVD rental code giving me 90 days free rental - I've got to add 10 titles to my list and I'm a bit stuck. The last time I went to the pictures it was Kiaora and hotdogs (not aways been veggie!) and 'smoking or non-smoking'! Well okay it was actually Star Trek 10 (or 9?) but it was ages ago. I've no idea of what is any good release-wise, but so far I've put

    Harry Potter
    Die Hard 4.0
Jesse Stone - Night Passage - I like Tom Sellek
Jesse Stone - In Paradise - I like Tom Sellek 2!
    The Simpsons
    Bourne Trilogy
    Casino Royale

I like crime/action adventure, but not too '18', good sci-fi or Star Trek (lol!), period dramas esp. Jane Austen.

Help me out - recommend away.....

I would highly recommend Children of Men with Clive Owen - really makes you stop to think and you'll never look at Bexhill on Sea the same way again!!

Speaking of Clive Owen, Inside Man is a good watch, keeps you guessing to the end.

If you like Star Trek, have you tried the SG1 series?

ahh not being nasty everdream78 but I watch films so I don't have to think, I prefer escapism - I'm perfect Hollywood fodder in a way!

Someone at work recommended the Bourne trilogy?

No, I hated the stargate movie, crud! But the series are completely different, they're really good - honest!

Do you like the War of the Worlds type of thing? I just thought it was okay but OH loved it. Or Butterfly Effect for something a bit different?

I've seen some of the series on Sky, its never gripped me in the way ST (esp OS) does.

Can't think of too many memorable sci-fi movies, couldn't bare watching WoW can't stand the lead - Dune was fun. Prefer 'westerns in space' type stuff, more escapism!

Clive Owen is always watchable... rent the one he did with Jennifer Aniston and Vincent Cassell. That'll keep you guessing. And she's nothing like she was in Friends. Recommended.

One film that surprised me was "Stranger Than Fiction" - Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson. Really shouldn't, but I enjoyed it! Thoroughly recommend it.

Fracture is pretty good, especially if you like crime/thriller - Anthony Hopkins stars.

Any good Christmas movies? I shudder to admit I mindlessly watched 'Elf' the other week

I would certainly recommend the Bourne Trilogy - The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy & The Bourne Ultimatum. Very good Action films that are basically one long plot that has been split into 3 so you have to watch them in the right order! I'd even go so far as to say the best films i've watched this year.

Oh yes, I enjoyed the Bourne Trilogy too! What about Pirates of the Caribbean for easy watching? Can't think of any recent christmas movies, just the same old same old! I tend to watch old black and white films, David Lean's Dickens films are bril to curl up with!
