  • Did you see any?

Leonids, that is. Although I didn't manage to get out of bed before dawn to see the forcasted main showing, late last night I managed to see six of the evasive streaks of light. Admittedly, one was so faint I only just saw it but two were real bright streaks of colour right through the middle of Orions Belt. 'Aint nature wonderful a'.

I am sure they are wonderful but have to confess I was too busy sleeping to see them. How long are they due to last or did I miss my chance?

C'est la vie! I have trouble sleeping sometimes - strangely never on nights when there is something happening in the sky!

Not seen any yet, but I'm going to be out there with a mug of mulled wine

We get a lot of light pollution near us, so ...fingers crossed.

              Thanks for that peeps,

I would have missed them if I hadn't been looking here. And a reasonable time too. I'm with you Nicos, a nice mug of mulled wine should do the trick

Seems we have conflicting dates. Never the less, if tonight is peak time let's hope for a cloudless sky. If last night was the warm up, tonight should be really good. Keep your eye on Orion. Hey, that's almost poetic!

I saw that site linked to 'AuroraWatch'

...and on that note...anyone 'Up There in the Arctic regions of Scotland' seen an Aurora yet??

Last night was the coldest and had the clearest sky's of this year, round here! I was having a bit of a marvel at the clarity when I was walking the dog late on but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I'll have another look tonight though and probably walk into a lamp post!

Last sky event I managed to watch was Hailey's Comet (years ago). Have trouble staying awake past 9. 30 pm and the skies are really cloudy here at the moment. Didn't even get a peek of the sunshine that was forecast. Grey cold day.
