That's really cool! Your whole site looks very smart and well kept HW!

I've found my plot but how do I get the blue pin thingy???
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Over on the left, you should see a tab "My Maps" (just under where it says GoogleMaps) - click that, and then "create new map". From here on in you need to have a google account (which is easy to do, and free), just follow the links.

Once you've created an account, you simply zoom in on the map to where you want, click the little blue pin icon at the top of the map, give it a name (over on the left), and then click "link to this page" (top right of map). Then copy the text from the top box that appears (for emails or IM).

Then simply paste the text into your message here.

It sounds really complicated when I type it all out like that, but it's really simple - if I can do it...

I think that works, although I couldn'y write a label on my blue pin! That's a few years ago I reckon - it was completely overgrown when I got it!

Yes, didn't think of that! Not everywhere is well "mapped" as yet.

I'm not sure you can do the link thing, but Flash Earth allows you to use various different "maps" (even NASA ones), and you might find that if it doesn't appear on google maps/earth, you might be able to zoom in on your area with one of the others: Flash Earth ...satellite and aerial imagery of the Earth in Flash

I will have a look later, suspect the lack of detail is due to the refineries, LNG sites and ferry terminals here though (also a big american airbase recently vacated)

hope this works, don't know how old the maps are tho. My house is still a building site so must be at least 8 years old. The plot was cleared 2 years ago so thankfully looks more like a allotment now.
