  • Psychic Santa???????????

Prepare yourself for an epic thread!

Today I received a small parcel from Santa (Thompson & Morgan) which included 10 packets of vegetable seeds and a £10 gift voucher!

    Veggie seeds were:-

    1) Tomato Tamina, huge crop, outstanding taste!
    2) Pepper Orange Bell, will compliment my Orange Banana tomatoes
    3) Carrot Honeysnack, another different variety to try!
    4) Herby salad leaf mixed, can be grown all year round!
5)Lettuce Mini Green, mini iceberg hearts!
    6) Pak choi White F1 Hybrid, always looking for something new to try!
    7) Courgette Tristan F1 hybrid, scratch free foliage!
    8) Brussel Sprout Maxmus F1 Hybrid, should compliment my own self saved sprouts seed!
    9) Cauliflower Clapton F1 hybrid, clubroot resistant, looking forward to trying this very new hybrid on my clubroot infested land!
    10) Cabbage Kilaton F1 hybrid, clubroot resistant, an improvement on kilaxy which I grew with great success this year!

Thanks to Thompson & Morgan (where did they get there inside information about veggies I will enjoy growing?) for sponsoring the Grow Your Own online show and for all the above seeds including the £10 gift voucher!

I would also like to thank Grow your Own Magazine and all the other sponsors who made the show the success it was. Thanks must also go to Piglet Willie and Jennie Atkinson for judging the show and Dave for his help and liason and all the unamed faces in the background who made it a success.
Whilst I'm on a roll (ta diddle ah tiddle ah dah!!!) thanks to all the members of the forum for making it the happy family it is, and Merry Christmas to you all!

    Twice!

Ah, but what you don't know Snadger, is that if you won two categories, T&M send you the seeds TWICE !!! I couldn't believe it!

Well done for such a fab idea, and yes, great great time had by all!

Hear Hear Snadger. Yet another thread to thank everyone involved in the promotion, organisation and everything else to do with the virtual show - but well deserved!!!! It was great to take part and super surprising to win something.

Many thanks to all those involved, and indeed to the companies who sponsored prizes (unexpected as they were). Looking forward to sampling some of the results of the seed prize (elder son excited about the peppers, younger about the carrots).

As I don't think I have a clubroot problem (and I guess I would know after 2 years of growing brassicas?) - would anyone who does have the problem like to sample some clubroot resistant cauli and cabbage (though I would like to keep some seed to try the types for flavour)? PM me if you are interested but there are only 20 seeds per pack - probably 15 available of cabbage and same of cauliflower.
      Happy Gardening,
      Shirley

You don't need to have clubroot to enjoy the resistant brassica's you know! I'll gladly send you some clubrooty soil if you like........Noooo, you'll pass on that??? I don't blame you!

I grew Kilaxy last year, in fact I got a second prize in the show with one! They are truly a nice crunchy long standing cabbage, ideal for coleslaw! I have about a dozen heads still in my allotment and they must have stood for about six weeks to two months without losing flavour or blowing!

Try them Shirl, I'm sure once you've grown them once you will grow them every year!

Thanks for the advice Snadger. Indeed I will pass on the clubrooty soil - I think mine is okay coz it hasn't grown anything for years and years. I have yet to grow a cabbage into something edible (to me rather than the pests) and we have managed one cauliflower (which we chucked after failing to get the bugs out of) and thought they may go to a home more able to do them justice.

                  And Yes Again

You could have knocked me over with a feather when I got Two Thompson & Morgan packets through the door this morning!
Such a massive boost to our morale you wouldn't believe, when other things have been a bit cr@ppy recently.
And you're right Snadger, they must be psychic - 4 of those packets were already on my Definate list, and 2 on the Possible list!!
