  • Winter solstice...

So am I right saying that tonight and tomorrow night are the longest nights and tomorrow is the shortest day?
Also, is tomorrow also midwinters day?

Cripes- the longer days are about to begin again!! That went quickly!

I always love Winter solstice, it means that the shortest day has arrived and it's downhill all the way to Summer now

Sorry Pagans, I don't know what the correct greeting is but.... "Happy Solstice?!" for tomorrow

Bright blessings to everyone for Yule!!!!

If you don't know, Yule is the pagan new year - and yes, tomorrow is usually the shortest day :-)

                  Don't apologise!!!!

Traditionally, Yule is the celebration of the sun making his return - so yes, you're right, the days will get longer. In the old Celtic calendar, there should be 13 months, so this is the longest gap between our festivals.... the next one being the spring equinox

The winter solstice is traditionally celebrated as Yule on the 21st December, and this is technically supposed to be the shortest day, however this can vary due to the tilt of the Earth and the fact that in addition to the tilt there is a slight 'wobble' This year the solstice is actually 22nd, but most of us stick with tradition and go with our celebrations on the night of 21st. Looking forward to it! - And to the fact that the days will be longer after that. And Scarey55, Happy Yule (or my particular preference Merry Yule) will do just fine. Thank you love bluemoon
