You're so right Jaxom. Hope they take heed of you. Maybe we'll see you on the programme. Hope so!

Can I take this opportunity to mention Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall please, ok so perhaps his programmes can be a little staged but just about everything mentioned above has been covered, however fleetingly, by him in his various series. Treats from the Edwardian Country House, A Cook on the Wild Side and the River Cottage programmes promote traditional, locally sourced, environmentally friendly, animal welfare orientated produce. He does encourage people to have a go at GYO/rearing livestock/gathering wild food themselves, and he attempts to show them how to do it. I would certainly appreciate more programmes like this, athough perhaps without the "aren't I doing something special" novelty factor attached.

I think everyone has said everything I would want to say - thanks Eskymo!

I got the allotment DVD for Christmas and have just loved it. I like being able to go back to it as well. Never having seen an allotment it has given me alot of ideas and as I garden alone, pick up tips from others.

I also like Gardeners World (always sit down with my glass of wine to watch on a Friday night!), I find it very useful and informative BUT they never seem to finish what they are doing - ie how and when do you water, when do you prick out, plant out etc. For example, Sarah Raven packed a whole load of bulbs into a pot last October and then said "and they'll flower nicely next Spring" OK where do you keep them, inside, outside, greenhouse ? do you water them ???? Sorry ......... that's my rant over!

Intefusion: Can you provide a post later as to when and on what channel these programmes will be aired. It would be nice to know so that I (and I'm sure otehrs) don't miss them. Thanks.

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

I would like to learn more about traditional methods and things like that. I know my grandad always grew the family's veg and the family grew it through the war to help with the war effort and all that. Sadly my grandad passed on before I could gain from all his wisdom. My mum does tell me things that she can remember but it would be so interesting to hear how people coped in the past and the old traditions of allotments and what it meant to families and the community. Especially during periods like rationing and whatnot.

I would also like to see a programme about real gardeners (not celebrities) and what they are growing to eat in their real gardens (back yards, windowsills, borders, pots, anything that contains) There's a wealth of talent and information out there. We don't need the celebs to show us how to do it in perfect conditions. We need the real people who live in the same real word as us, with limited time and resources and less than perfect conditions.

My choice of programme at the moment is `It's not easy being green` on BBC2 tonight, I can't get enough of it. More like this with extra gardening!!
