  • Anyone know where I can get a vintage/retro garden 'windmill'?

When I was little (100 years ago) one of my friends Dads had a garden ornament (bird scarer?) that was a small windmill on a pole that a little plastic man appeared to be hand cranking as the wind blew (of course it was the other way round really!). I coveted it terribly I've just been searching ebay and Google in the hopes of finding one to buy but with no joy. Anyone know what I'm talking about and where I might find one?
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

    Ho crikey I remember these.
My Grandads had a little man that chopped at a stump with his axe.

    Now I want one.
But have no idea where from though sorry.

Oh aye! Those are just the kind of thing! Shame they're North America only but at least 'whirligig' is a new term to search. I *knew* there had to be a proper name for them, thanks!

Ha, yes! They'll be in Poundland about two minutes after I've caved and paid an obscene amount for one!

Liking the look of the DIY ones but having to put the credit card in the fridge and hide the rest of the red wine after finding these:

I have posted on the dark side, and will perhaps post on others.
