'Fraid it costs £60 too much for us on a small (and I mean small) pension. Did think about going halfees with Wellie when she gets here and sharing the magazine.

SO...what you French types want to do is chum up with a UK peepie, and when your UK pal has finished with their copy of GYO, get them to mail it over (from memory, about £3) so the whole year would cost the frangipans same as if you were here.... ish......

Hmm - that made better sense in my head..?

            Haze,
I was 7 hours ahead of you there sweetie. Trousers and I had that very conversation this evening, because quite frankly, it isn't Rocket Science we thinks....!
BUT, Wellie keeps all her magazines to constantly refer to and refer back to, so I'd be dead sh!t at being a go-between 'send it onto' goafer me thinks!
See Wellie write Haze a cheque.
See Scarey Clarey write Haze a cheque.
See Hazel count on all her fingers and toes, and then possibly answer this thread once she's realised how lucrative this could be!

Good for you Sweetie.... shall I get Ben to phone you when he's finished his Eggs'n'Bacon this morning?! (No no, I'm just teasing now!)
and ACTUALLY, Haze, it would be lovely to get a result there. I'm sure there's plenty of peeps abroad that would love to 'take' the magazine, if you'll pardon the old-fashioned expression....

I hate to say it folks but I think £60 is far too steep for the mag in France when there are SO SO many excellent French gardening magazines available here, either monthly or quarterly. And they are not all modern techniques, there are several on bio (organic) gardening, the bio movement etc. and many of the glossier mags are very very good because people here (in rural areas) tend to be naturally bio.

And even better, the mags here usually have sections dealing with the various parts of France, in a country this big and geographically diverse, it's interesting to know what grows better in the north (in France, that's north of the r. Loire) what grows best in Med. climates, mountain climates etc. depending on where you live.

I do buy the English gardening mags. when I go back to the UK but only GYO, English Gardens and Gardens Illustrated. For several years now I've subscribed to KG's but this is the last year I'm doing so because to be honest, I don't need it any more when I have so many just excellent journals here to read.

Printed papers (mags) are slightly cheaper to post than ordinary packets, but I don't know if you have to package them differently to prove they are papers.

                          * see Scarey rub hands together at the prospect of being able to get the Mag without KK saying "HOW MUCH"

I agree Tony, we've had copies of 'Plaisir du Potager', 'Potager Bio' and 'Jardiner Bio' magazine and they're very good. They're fairly easy to follow, even by electronic dictionary. Also they have what I would call 'French quirks' that wouldn't be found in English mags, you'll often read stuff on gardening by the moon and of course they'll write about gardens that can be visited in France.
