Hello i have just joined your group i am a proffesional nurseryman specialising in vegetable plants i have grown veg since i was 5 years old and was the 5th generation of my family to have allotments which lead me into the nursery trade 10 years ago after a period of ill health and 2 years off work i decided to start my own nursery which i had for 3 years before going on to manage big nurseries in Buckinghamshire then Worcestershire before a stint as production Manager at Pentland Plants in Edinburgh After which i had my own nursery In Fife again for three years on which we grew a wide range of plants which i ran with my partner Sarah before we moved to Cornwall this summer to specialise in Veg plants after a major success with veg plants on e-bay last summer.

Thanks for the lovely welcome i joined one forum recently and because it was a little confusing i posted the same thing in three places and they accused me of spamming and were very unpleasant towards me so i told them where to go and joined a couple of other threads instead.

Everythings a bit of a nightmare for us at the moment we moved down from Scotland in july to start fresh and build a new nursery from scratch and to do this we rented a 4 bed bungalow with 1/2 and acre of land which was agriculturally tied so could only be used for agriculture or horticulture perfect we thought we were just about to submit planning permission for the tunnels at the end of November when we received a letter saying our tenancy wasn't being renewed at the end of the 6 months and we had to be out by the 26th Jan.

So weve now had to rent a plot of land elsewhere which we just hope we can get planning on now but its going to seriously hamper me this spring as i have already started sowing at the moment im borrowing some tunnel space from another local nursery

Welcome to the vine fivespud. Sounds like a nightmare - a move is supposed to be just one notch down from a bereavement in terms of stress. I do hope it works out soon for you and hope to chat more here.

I can second how stressful moving is, having had seven moves in 14 years ah well, only eight more years and the lovely Snowdrop hangs up his RAF Police baton and we can settle somewhere lovely

thats only the half of it we nearly got bankrupted by selling bedding plants wholesale in Fife for three years before the move and ran up £70K of debt and then to cap that we lost all our stock sundries and tools etc during the move down after some not very nice removal people left it all in Fife and as we had already borrowed from friends and family to move we couldn't afford to go and get it (long story) so we lost it all about £45K worth which i was hoping to sell down here to get some of the debts paid off so we have basically had to start again from scratch. But we remain fighting remain positive and its looking promising to turn things around
