  • Obsessions, anyone?

Is it just me or does everyone have a bit of an obsession with some sort of veg? With me it's onions. I grow them every year and, like most other veg, some years they're good, some years not so good. But with onions that's simply not enough. I want them HUGE, I want to have a barbie for the entire family and only need one. This year I've even bought some seeds which are meant for people who grow them for shows - they came in a little test tube, for heavens sake! And, when the rest of the family was lounging around after a heavy Boxing Day lunch, I was out in the greenhouse sowing the things. They've germinated now, and I'm keeping the greenhouse temperature at precisely 16C for them - never mind everything else that's in there.

Is this normal.....can I get help......?
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I'm getting madly drawn into variety seeking of each vegetable type; tomato, winter squash, lettuce, courgette, French beans, chinese leaves and I'm sure the veg range will continue to increase . Definitely an incurable obession...so heaven help me!!!

Sorry forget the internet and Grapevine forum too.

Yup, I've always had a books obsession too, and now you've got the lottie you can even start a whole new book-case, devoted entirely to lottie books - there's far more out there than you realize.

          Obsessions - ohh yes
Take a look at a thread started last year and tell me what you think.

And it's about to start again this year.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

Ohhh, I'm with you on the books! Most definitely! Not much room for anything else so far - but I might just be cultivating something new down on the lottie .....

A bit (don't tell OH I called it that) obsessed with fabric! I also play with my yin-yang beans every year when I've shelled them. They are just SO gorgeous. Branching out with more drying beans this year I hope.

Oh, you're in big trouble then Piskie! I've had a book obsession for far longer than is good for my floorboards and the amount of lottie books that have mysteriously appeared in my house these past few months...

My current gardening obsession is potatoes. I've ordered a truly silly amount of seed spuds and it's spilled over into ordering oca and ulloco too...

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom

                    Gulp.

I appear to have a Gardening Mag obsession. Today I got confirmation of my new (Xmas pressie) subscription to AG magazine, I already subscribe to GYO, also Gardening which?, and GW magazine.

I also buy 'the other growing mag'.

I get RHS members mag for free, 2nd hand.

During Xmas i bought Gardens illustrated but gave it away after a quick read, dint like it.

I have even been know to occasionally buy that Newspaper type gardening mag as well.

                    I need therapy.

Have you tried 'Organic Gardening' mag, is it still going?

Hope you get Gardeners World using Tesco Deals - good value then I reckon.

Oh sorry that wasn't helping was it?!

You have just reminded me, as a member of Garden organic I get their mag 4 times a year.

I have seen Organic Gardening in some Garden Centers, but not on general sale.

I am also saving up my tesco clubcard points, but its not my primary shopping place so its taking a while.

So to recap... that's 7 Gardening Magazines I actually pay to read.

                        Jesus i need help.

Getting carrots to maturity! Any I grew last year didn't get bigger than about 3 inches long and the thickness of a pencil cos Pickle kept pulling them up and eating them, I know thats the point, but I would like to see if I can get some bigguns this year.
