  • Roger Wilko over and out....

....what is this Wilko of which you all speak?
    Is it a private club?
Do I have to practice standing on one leg to be able to join?

VERY exclusive place, Wilko! Do you know the secret handshake?

Or maybe it's just a cheap department store in the east and north?
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

My DH says they're what Woolies used to be like, it's actually Wilkinson, Wilko for short. They sell almost everything, cheaper toiletries/counter medicines than Boots or Superdrugs, confectionery, baby stuffs, home cleaning products, kitchen stuffs similar to Tesco's quality/price, stationery for school, common gardening stuffs substantially cheaper than your average DIY and garden stores (inclu garden plants and fruit bushes), pet foods, electrical accessories (plugs, sockets), tools, storage boxes, children toys, hangers, pegs, ironing board, bathroom stuffs etc etc etc. I simply love them, my life wouldn't be the same without them.

I was going to say that, I always make a Bee-line for them whenever I come back to UK, They are the best/easiest place for home brew yeasts etc that I can't get here.

Also wallpaper and paint, bedding, cushions/duvets, candles/pot pouri and things like mirrors/photo frames.

In fact the only thing they don't sell is food.

.......except in selected stores they do - a basic range of groceries, anyway.

              And sandwiches.

Our Wilko has quite a lot of food! In fact the more I think about it, the more I reckon I could tunnel in and just live there...

Piskie, the nearest Wilko to you is in Didcot, which is also (coincidentally) my nearest one too. I was intending to go and have a look this week but I'm off work due to a virus.

Aha! Yes you could - I WAS thinking that you'd die of scurvy as they don't sell fresh fruit and veg - but, hey! you've got an allotment, problem solved!

Oh no - scratch that - they don't have an off licence. Mind you, with the lottie and the homebrew section...

I am intending a big shop at my local one on Sat.

I'm lucky, i have several stores within a fairly short drive. Its the parking that's a mare.
