  • And still I can't talk!

I'm pretty sad and down today, it's not like me and I'm clearly suffering from a huge dose of self pity

Some of you may remember that I had voice problems leading into and over Christmas (along with nasty bug thingy but that's a separate issue) - the problem (current offered medical opinion) is that it is caused by acid reflux.

Voice started to make a very very small return on Sunday and Monday, but last night I ate a small plate of chickpeas, butter beans type thing and got a shell stuck in my throat. I then had a sneezing fit and now I can't squeak at all and worse I can't cough which is not nice when something is stuck.

I am a very sad piskie and feeling oh so down

There is a cruel irony to the lost voice, cos I can talk for England - or so I'm told....

Enough of the moaning - morning all, my shed and fencing is getting delivered today, however it's peeing down so nothing will happen - but at least it's a start.

Sorry to "hear" that piskie. Hope it returns for you soon.

Maybe all the talk of D Hoety has made you horse ()?!

Just make sure your fencing stuff and shed are well tethered with all this wind!

What a nuisance piskie. At least you can still be heard by all us mad grapes.

Chop up half a lemon and put it in a mug with a good teaspoon of honey and top up with boiling water, infuse till cool enough to drink and then sip. It will soothe your throat and honey has antibacterial properties too.

Isn't it even better if you can get local honey too? Or is that an old wive's tale?

          Then add whisky!
Sorry to hear that one of our cheerful grapes is feeling down. Sometimes it all conspires to get you doesn't it? However, You have a sympathetic ear - or several - here. It's widdling down here too. Was going out - ain't any more!

Keep warm and do something you like - read a good book would be my choice.

That is to build up pollen tolerance to combat hayfever Wayne. Theory is the honey is made from local pollen and de-sensitizes you.

thanks guys, but if it is caused by acid I'm not sure whisky or lemons will help, much as I'd love the whisky

Warm milk with honey might be the answer to that then piskie.

{hugs} These things really get you down when they drag on and on, don't they?

With a bit of luck, there might be a little something nice in the post for you today
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Piskie, sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbish Is your doctor suggesting any other treatment?
I'd go with the milk suggestion - great for neutralising acid!

Good news bout your shed Gotta have somewhere to brew up!

                            Oh Piskie - poor you!

I suggest that you spend an afternoon in the warm putting your shed up inside the house. That way you will feel that you've done something constructive, and your nice new shed wont get wet either!

That's what I've done with my new mini greenhouse - although possibly I'm missing the point somewhere.....

How you gonna get them out the door? Ship in a bottle?

Hope you soon find a cure for what ails you Piskie, could be the kind of day to snuggle on the sofa and make lots of allotment plans and lists.
