It is said that there is enough coal for the next five hundred years sitting under Wales so IMO it seems like someone on the council haven't got enough real work to do if they have the time to sit about and dream up schemes like this.

Newcastle is a transition toon since Kevin Keegans third coming!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

        Hi Paul

We are very dependant on oil and gas. eg. Lorrys to supply the food to sustain a community. I'm not aware of electric lorrys yet, just electric cars and they have to be recharged frequently.

Transition Towns wasn't dreamt up by the council. The community organises the transition for the town for when fossil fuels run out or becomes to expensive to use. If you want to find more information on Transition Towns look at the website Transition Towns WIKI :: Main / HomePage. Or you could look on 'You Tube' for talks about Transition Towns. Richard Heinburg has a lot to say about Peak Oil.

I'm no expert, I worry about the future of my children and the world they will inherit from us. Although OH puts his faith in fussion.

        Kind regards
        Tracey

I think it is unlikely that Gillingham will become a transition town.

Unless someone invents a way that can turn teenage mums into renewable resource!!

Well, if I could just work out how to power my house on Methane I'd be okay... my baby is going some right now!

That aside, I doubt Edmonton is a Transition Town, or anywhere near it.
