  • Disposing of old spuds

I have an odd question. I bought a sack of Wilja spuds a few weeks before Christmas and they were lovely. I left all the smaller ones to 'use later' for mash and they started to sprout, I have put some of them to chit for growing in pots. I still have some if anyone would like them (I would have to request contributions towards postage though).

However, I then bought another sack of Wilja from a different supplier in the hope of enjoying more lovely spuds. These ones were rubbish, scabby and black and horrid. The question is, how do I dispose of a half-sack of grotty spuds? I don't -obviously - want to chuck them in the compost bin in case they decide to grow there. I put some out with the rubbish today but really hate putting veg waste in the black bin bag. Is there an alternative way to get rid?

Not an expert myself but could you not chuck them in the bonfire? I'm sure there'll be others with better suggestions. I had thought of burying them in the flower bed soil then I remember that they would grow !
