Comfrey

I'm trying to get comfrey , I cannot find seeds or plants anywhere.

Any suggestions please

I bought mine from a boot fair I think but you can get young plants from the Organic Gardening Catalogue, and various other places online...

Beware "wild" comfrey, it is a prolific seeder - you'll have it everywhere. I think you want the sterile version, Bocking 14. Have a look at some of the earlier threads for a fuller discussion, inc. this one:

If comfrey is cut well before the flowers appear(when it does most good)then there is no problem with seeding--I think!!
I gather mine from the fields whilst the leaves are still small.

I've a feeling it creeps too Polly. You get very big clumps of the stuff.

Prrhaps so.I've never needed to grow it so wouldn't know,though it seems to me it may be like rhubarb,the longer the old root is left in the ground the bigger the clump.Maybe dividing it up may work?
