  • council tax...

......Council tax re-evaluers want to charge us more if we live in a nice area. That ought to mean discounts for those of us who live in rough areas. We have a huge council house in our street. The extended family is run by a grumpy old woman with a pack of fierce dogs. Her car isn't taxed or insured, and doesn't even have a number plate, but the police still do nothing. Her bad tempered old man is famous for upsetting foreigners with racist comments. A shopkeeper blames him for ordering the murder of his son's girlfriend, but nothing has been proved yet. All their kids have broken marriages except the youngest, who everyone thought was gay. Two grandsons are meant to be in the Army but are always seen out in nightclubs. The family's odd antics are always in the papers. They are out of control. .......... Honestly - who'd live near Windsor Castle ?
Imagination is everything, it is a preview of what is to become.

If you've never read it, get hold of "The Queen and I" by Sue Townsend (Adrian Mole author)

It's a bit out of date now seeing as some of the royal family have shuffled off this mortal coil but basically...

The Royal family get sacked by a Socialist government and sent to live on a council estate

Get it, read it, and then try to get the image of the Queen down the dole office out of your head hahahahahaha

Brilliant - I didn't twig at all till the last line!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Love it. What about adding "none of them have ever done a day's work, and all their money comes straight from the state"? I'll be on a list now for sure...
