On the subject of birthdays, my #2 son is 11 on Valentine's Day, and has decided he wants an electric guitar...
I've found this 'starter set', but I dunno anything about 'em, does anyone know if it's reasonable? Encore Blaster Electric Guitar Starter Package

Has he already had lessons? Both our boys wanted to learn but when given the opportunity they were not really interested. Asking at your local music instrument store might be a good idea - if your son loses interest they may buy the guitar back.

We have a music shop just round the corner, and they sell this package, costs a bit more but they give a free lesson too & yes, offer to buy it back it ends up unused!! His friend has just got a drum kit, so I think they're planning to be the next Kaiser Chiefs or something Glad drums are harder to move though

LOL, good for them. My nephew has his own band - they seem to be doing quite well (he is around 15) and get gigs locally. Actually quite glad mine didn't stick to it - I really couldn't stand the racket!
Happy Birthday from me Shirl - loved the eclectic music choices on the thread. References to John Peel made me wonder do you have his favourite song on the jukebox(es) - Undertones - Teenage Kicks?
Brings me onto SarzWix - deal on guitar looks good - but get your son to take lessons - my #2 (now 16) does & pays half the cost (keeps his interest up if he contributes to it!)
Heeheehee, I've just had a mental image of the beginning of "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" movie Hope they don't end up sounding like that in my garage...!

If you want to give your son some encouragement play him this.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Teenage Kicks is a superb track, not in the 'boxes at the moment but could well be in the collection somewhere (we get singles from freecycle whenever we can and it takes ages to get them organised). We are thinking of buying a few more modern (60s, 70s and 80s) jukeboxes to cater for those era's of music. The '57 Wurlitzer just sounds totally wrong if you put Meatloaf in it for instance. The Seeburg, though older but being stereo, is not so bad but still seems a bit odd playing 80's tracks. They take up a lot of space and cash but they are rather fascinating.
Just going to have the last dregs of that champagne bottle over there then I must be off to bed so, enjoy the rest of your birthday and I hope you get Max home very soon,
Take care luvvie, Happy Birthday with love from The Scareys
