  • Yuck!!!

While out in the garden today I noticed that the cover of the waterbutt at the bottom of the garden (out of sight of the house) had come off.

I went to investigate and the smell.....

There were two 'bodies' floating in the soup.....

I'm desperatly hoping they were only squirrels

    yuck!

Please would everyone check their waterbutts - I know it's not nice but if they are not covered it could be someones cat......

Yik indeed. We used to fish mice out of the goats water buckets frequently in the winter, poor little blighters went to get a drink and couldn't get back out

I've got a piece of old fireguard over mine with a rock holding it on, after having to fish a bird out of it one day. Think the bird survived, thankfully, it was still feebly flapping when I found it.

Frogs, toads and ghekkos in mine - the ghekkos live in the roof void and get caught up in the rainwater, washed into the downpipes and can't escape.

My dads friends cat died that way. Their little girl was inconsolable. It was an awful business.

I can imagine! Braved the scene this morning (most of the smell had gone) and incinerated the corpes - definately rodents from the teeth - probably squirrels.

The butt has been emptied and placed on its side until a new lid can be found or manufactured!

I am not a vegetarian and generally prefer 'organic' solutions but there are limits, you know?

It wasn't so much the skinless meat as the 'soup' they were in and the thought of what they might be!

                Uurrgghhhh!!!!!
