Hhhmmm, I'm crap at most housework....

Dishwashers are a godsend for hiding dirty plates etc, and ours only needs to go on every couple of days...

We hoover downstairs every day as we have dogs, and the kitchen is fairly tidy as the dogs like to counter-surf to see if there is anything edible/interesting there

Ironing is done on an "iron-to-wear" basis by Mr OWG

I gave up mopping the kitchen floor when the weather was really bad, as no sooner had I got it clean, then the dogs got it muddy again!

My one luxury is a cleaner. I hate cleaning and I don't spend much on anything else, besides the odd bottle of wine or 3. OH spends a fortune on cars and techy things, so that's my treat.
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.

Whilst my sister was waiting on a business purchase to go through, she was my cleaner (and dog walker) for 2 blissful months.... I was actually quite upset when she bought her first business as I had to do my own cleaning!

my MIL used to come round with her white gloves looking down her nose at the hoovel that i make her only son live in.
She don't come round anymore hubby takes the kids over to see her when she rings and asks, other than that i think she really liked me getting all those high cob webs down at her house before asking for the bleach coz i needed to pee then smiled sweetly and told her if she can't promise not to make cracks about tazmanian devils best she not come round anymore. we get on so well now i don't see her and my house is as tidy as expected with 4 kids 3 of which arn't at school yet,3 dogs and a hubby
oh and a pile of ironing as big as me.
I'd rather regret the things i've done than regret not doing them at all.

As we both work all day (and we're both nuts who love our individual work, so tend to do much longer days than necessary as a result), and we have the toddler, (and we tend to try doing either more work/study or I try to do some knitting, sewing, reading, cooking etc after dinner when toddler goes to bed), we decided to get a cleaner once a fortnight about a year ago. It's a godsend!! Now, I never have to wash floors, only have to do the bathroom every second weekend, and know that the dust is removed from the obvious areas. We do a wash most days, and tend to have one evening a week folding it in front of the tv, and I have somehow managed to reach a situation where the OH is not only ironing all his own shirts (we always had a split responsibilty on ironing), but he is now doing mine as well....There's still lots I have to do, but the big clean means that I can concentrate on things like regular laundry, prepping dinners the night before (as we tend to need food almost instantaneously when me and the toddler arrive in) and getting lunchboxes ready - after which I can sit down for a whole hour before bed!!

Get a cleaner; the best thing I ever did.

I found I enjoyed housework more when someone comes in and does it for me.

Mark does all the ironing, I just have to get it washed and dried; and he does the washing up as well [I do the DIY].

Honestly, my tutor at Uni told me 10 years ago to get a cleaner and I only relented last year; but it is a brilliant.

The only downside is she comes every other thursday at 8:30, so when I am working from home I have to get up earlier than usual and go out - so that she can get on with it without me around. But apart from that, I highly recommend getting one.

I know all the logic about getting a cleaner when you work full time but I really couldn't do it, I'd be one of those people who had to clean before they came even though I hate housework. We go for the trying to keep things basically tidy and always keep the kitchen hygenic. Hoovering gets done as and when, dusting nowhere near as often as it should and ironing pretty much never - it's amazing how much you can get away with not ironing by a bit of stragegic use of the tumble dryer and a smooth down!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'd be like that as well, cleaning before the cleaner came round! I don't like housework much, we don't have a dishwasher so I hand wash but tend to leave the dishes in the sink overnight & wash-up in the mornings. I hate ironing & buy things which you can wear straight out of the tumbly & try to avoid anything which says 'handwash'!
