  • Kate Bush - This Woman's Work ( someone else mentioned this)

The duet from Bizet's The Pearl Fishers (t'was my daddy's favourite)

Funny though, the sadness can be very uplifting at the same time, can't it?

        • Children in the nativity play singing Away in a manger gets me every time, and it is so hard sitting at the front trying to encourage them and give them prompts when you have a huge lump in your throat. Bless em.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

I chose 'I've had the time of my life' from Dirty Dancing for the end of my mother's funeral. It was her favourite bit of the film and she'd always make me wind it back and play it again. It took a while before I could listen to it again without getting really sad, but now I remember it for all the right reasons, and it makes me smile broadly.

Can't even write why without crying. We were on holiday in France and the kennels got in touch to say our lovely dalmatian Wesley was ill at the vets and we had to make that horrible decision from so far away.

                      • Just stumbled across this thread, it's great

I admit I am a sap, more so since having children. My second son was a very poorly baby and was eventually diagnosed with congenital heart defects and underwent open heart surgery when he was 9 months old. Wires by Athlete makes me cry every time, even though the song is about premature babies, the whole bit about wires, cooridoors and automatic doors brings memories rushing back every time.

The original was on Radio 2 this morning. Luckily, LadyWayne was driving.
