  • Computer problems!

I haven't been joining in the forum as much as I usually do for a while now as I've got computer problems and can only get on from work or borrowed computer!

Just signed up for BT's option three update to a wireless router to replace my defunct/kaput hard wired version.

Expecting delivery on Friday 8th Feb so will be back, more often, soon after hopefully!

Best of luck lad - they aren't know for their speed are they? I thought we hadn't had as many of your wise words just lately. Hope you get back soon.

So BT aren't the forums favourite I gather?

Aaaaaaah well, the deed is done now, I'll just have to hope for the best and speak as I find!

Seems to me that none of them are brilliant at their time-keeping...! We signed up to Tiscali, & after a 3 month wait for equipment told them to stuff it & stayed with Orange!
You'll get there in the end Snadger

                    Hi.

Our BT homehub equipment turned up on time and has worked ever since apart from one little thing...

When the computer shuts down sometimes it refuses to connect; and needs to be reinstalled. It just wouldn't accept that the password was the correct one. Found someone online who recommened putting a $ in front of the password and it has worked ever since.

Apart from that, it is fine - hope yours is too.

My BT stuff turned up on the day advised.
The line worked as soon as I plugged it in.

When I upgraded, each of two times, I had the same experience.

Bear in mind that, unless you are on cable the other providers have to visit the BT exchange to put their stuff on your BT line anyway.

Also when I queried whether on my Option 3 I should have BT-Vision as it was now inclusive, which it wasn't when i went onto 3, it was sent straigt away and arrived on the advised day, it did cost £30 though to set up my line with the pay-per-view bit.

Lucky you! They are total c**p here! a 1Mg line which works at 300Kb and only if you DON'T want anything larger than 500Kb, at which point it dies!

I have tried to avoid this thread but I hate BT with such a vengeance I have to join in. When Brian died they cut my/our phone off immediately. No explanation, no recourse. They insisted that I had to go through the "credit assessment" route to get it reconnected which could take up to five weeks.

I'm sorry, but widowhood is ultra devastating. Not being able to talk to your relatives/friends/support group through one of the most devastating episodes in your life is insensitivity in the extreme. 17 hrs of begging and pleading lead to them not answering any calls from my, and my son's numbers.

Brian was the team-leader for BT's first number change. He told them at the time that within four years they would need to change the numbers again. He was right but the numbers were dictated by government not industry.

He was asked to do the next number change and he told them to go forth and multiply.

Anyhoo, all this meant that I had the ear of the powers that be when he died. So when I couldn't get my phone reconnected, I emailed the CEO of BT and it was back on the next day.

So, what happens to the little old lady down the road, or the bloke next door. I personally don't think there is anything to choose between any of the telecoms companies. I don't think the company I am now with will treat me any differently BUT I'm not talking to a call centre in India that doesn't understand the question and sends back the nearest answer that doesn't answer the question.

BT are now sending me letters pleading with me to return to them quoting the monetary benefits I will get. I couldn't care a monkeys arse about the money, I want to know that I have a connection and REAL customer service. It's worth all the world.
