You can guarantee that it'll be the Northerner who brings up the whole Bath, glass, grass, class thing (LadyWayne is from Sheffield).
I bet you pronounce tomato as "tomarto" though!
You're not wrong there Wayne! Me (from Sunderland) & the OH (from Cornwall/Somerset) have this discussion often! And, the one about 'oo' - .eg. if you say 'Boots' why do you say 'Bucks & Cucks' instead of 'Books & Cooks' ??
I really loathe the way some Yorkshire folk lose the 'ee' on the end of words too, for instance one of the towns near here is called Keighley & should be pronounced Keethlee, however in some people it comes out Keefleh, ugh!
Or my daughter's name Emily, turns into Emileh No need!!

Lol, regional accents are great. LadyWayne did part of her growing up over near Flum's part of the world, some in Nottingham, Lincoln and eventually ended up daan saaf - where we met. Part of her family are also from accross the great divide (aka t'Pennines), and they speak another variation of "Northen" again. I didn't think I had an accent (ludicrous notion I know), but when LW and I first met, her family thought I was from that London. My brother-in-laws girlfriend be from Cornwall, my Pa's from Northern Ireland and Mum's an Essex gewl! One of my uncles is from Sunderland and I have family over in Ipswich.
All we need now, is Scottish, Welsh and Southern Ireland and we've got pretty much a full set!*
Imagine if we all typed as we spoke - now that'd be a challenge!
* - I know there are faazandz more dialects/accents, but you get my point hopefully?
Oh dear, Madmax and I indulge in a Samwidge sometimes - when mk2 son hops into bed with us for a snuggle on a Sunday morning - he loves to get in between us and get squidged up in a SAMwidge.
