Things like this don't really bother me in everyday chit chat. I don't mind misspellings on chatty message boards either. I DO mind when people are in a position and situation where they should know better though, Dubya being a prime example. If you have your finger on the red button, you should at the very least be able to pronounce the word 'nuclear'

We run a company that deals with earthing. We often get asked to provide quotes for earthling work, as the spell checker will change earthing to earthling.

But what about when sentences turn into questions? That rising tone at the end of the sentence? Doesn't it just make you mad?

And like, I think, yeah, that like - yeah? it's just like everywhere? And like shouldn't you be like fined if you do this? And shouldn't you get like double penalty if you do rising sentences and like at the same time?

There's two that get my boat, pronunciation-wise (DON'T get me going on apostrophes!!)

The first is 'libry' as opposed to 'library', and the second is 'parliment' as opposed to 'parliament'

Newscasters who should know better, lor an order (law and order), Febury (February).

When I was working for a food company, one of the marketing people was trying to find information on a specific spice on the internet, with singular lack of success. She was pronouncing and therefore looking for tumeric instead of turmeric. I've noticed a lot of chef's on the TV do the same. It's their bloody job to know this..

My daughter had a problem with spelling whist she was growing up and I told her that if she pronounced words properly she would have a much better chance of spelling them correctly. She's now a technical writer for a well-known telecoms company.
