The wild polyanthus have just started to burst out, lovely yelloe flowers and I was 'bonjour' ed today by the first ramblers of the year as they wandered along our chemin rurale.

I think spring is really coming, both my potted Maidenhair tree (Gingko Biloba) has send out it's green shoots so lovely . I noticed my Conference pear tree are sending out some shoots (still covered like buds but getting bigger) and so as the Japanese Quince (Cido). The Narciscus flower buds are getting plum...so happy, hopefully no hard frost coming....

I went down to the lottie without a coat today The sun shone, the birds sang, my little boy and I got suitably grubby hauling out bramble roots and laying manure....

                perfect day, just perfect
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I went down by the canal today and snowdrops are out - lovely [didn't know we had any so a nice surprise]. I sat by the canal for 15 minutes in the sun- it was gorgeous.

The only thing worrying me is that does the lovely early weather herald another carp summer???

I remember 1997, when spring was glorious and very early, the good weather went on and on through summer and we even had lovely weather in autumn.

                      I remember this time because:

Spring - my Son was born
                      Autumn - my Father died
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.

I saw the 1st butterfly of the year today... small tortoiseshell. Flying dangerously close to my bonfire.

We had a flock of four goldfinches singing their hearts out over the weekend and they came back today to raid the silver birch shoots. It really is spring!

Yes spring is in the air, I spring cleaned my greenhouse out, empted it washed it all inside/out, scrubbed my shelves, and put everything back lovely clean and tidy. "What a lovely day its been” found loads of items & things and bits & bobs I thought I’d lost all hiding in the greenhouse job well done

Yep Spring is definitely in the air.

First lawnmower of the year (next door) yesterday.

Also two days of lovely Spring weather, and some idiots have to spoil it with bonfires.
