  • The aches and pains of gardening...

    ...will soon be upon us.

On Saturday LadyWayne went out shopping, and I made a start on tidying the garden. In particular the trees and bushes that grow along the side of our house.

There are various trees and bushes, including elder, hawthorn, bramble, laurel, ivy, ash. The hawthorn and bramble obviously take a bit of doing, but the elder and the ash had grown 10-15ft since we cut them back last year! So armed with my extendable two handled loppers, a ladder and the lopper with the really long handle and a pull cord thingy, I set about cutting them back.

Four and a half hours later I'd done the lot - tidied up and was inside.

Whilst lopping it all back I decided to keep the longer ash "branches" (they had just grown straight up) and try using them instead of canes, so I've got about 10-15 relatively straight ash bean poles.

Yesterday, LadyWayne went our shopping again and came back with a Nintendo Wii. Well, those of you who know about these things will know that they involve a lot of arm movements - especially the boxing game. My arms were hurting already following Saturday's endeavours, but after a few Wii games!! Ouch!

It was a timely reminder that the hard work really starts soon - once spring has sprung! It's amazing what a bit of sunshine does.

Combine your wii with a gardening programme then you wont have to go outside
A bit of topiary without damaging a tree?

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I know what you mean about the boxing game!!! Boy I wondered what the heck I had done to myself the day after that - it took a couple of hours to work out the cause of the pain as it didn't feel strenuous at the time! Good fun though

I do geniunely think that the aches in may arms are down to the pruning I did the day before, but the boxing game probably didn't help matters.

Wii's are things of witchcraft though aren't they? How does that work? I like Nintendo's thinking though - thinking out of teh box in it's truest sense.

It is a brilliant console, just a pity it doesn't have a better choice of games.

I wish we had a bigger room - with someone my size flailing his arms about, you need quite a big room and our lounge isn't that big.

We're taking it to Centre Parcs next month though for a bit of a giggle (after a few sherries too!).

Now Madmax keeps saying we need a bigger tv to play it on - he says you can't see the telly when you are far away enough to swing the tennis bat!

                      Only male Wii apparently.

How do you tell the difference between male and female Wii's?
