I can't find the receipt and with having it this long can i take it back and get my money back or is it to late having had it this long.

I would go to the store and tell them the story, they might be able to get the right part from the supplier.

      Hope this helps:

Appeal to their better nature, I think it's a case of hoping you find a sympathetic ear at the store. Good luck.

If the item isn't "fit for purpose" they are obliged to give you a refund or exchange it. Make a fuss!

Don't be put off if the staff aren't helpful ... many of them have never heard of the Sale of Goods Act. Don't get into an argument in the store, write to Head Office, and enclose a print out of the Act (main points)

I had a huge battle with Sp0rtsW0rld - they "don't give refunds" apparently. So I wrote to Trading Standards or someone and they took up the case. Refund awarded PDQ. No apology though

You may find you have additional rights if you paid with a credit card.

If I am not mistaken you have technically been sold the item (effectively the sales contract) by the credit card company even though you wil have picked it up from a retailer and used its plastic.

May be worth looking into if you paid this way.
