  • Valentine's

I hate the sort of "organised religion" that is Valentine's Day, and so far have refused all offers of presents/flowers/meals out.

    Serve me right.

We are now going to watch Chelsea on Sat (my first ever footy match - will I be cold? Bored? Hungry?)

    oooh I love valentines day!
Mum is having the children and we are going out for posh dinner. Not been out for meal on our own since baby no2 born in July!

Had some flowers yesterday (my 3yr old saw them and insisted apparantly)

Will hopfeully get slushy card too! But prob tea and toast in bed will be a bit too advanced for them!

We don't go in for the whole valentine thing, it's not exactly spontanious is it, where's the romance in that? (bah! humbug!!)

I loathe Valentine's day too, it's just sanctioned commercialism, we actually allow these people to sell us this tat. My OH and I have been married for almost 30 years and we're more than capable of deciding which days are special to us; anniversary of our first meeting, wedding, etc, without Mr Hallmark telling us that we need to be spending money on something as meaningless as this. It just nicely fills the gap for them between Christmas and Easter. Mothers' Day is another one, I happen to love my mum year round and am quite able to tell her so. I do buy her the Mothers' Day flowers though as she would probably be quite offended if I didn't.

I went to a footie match once, by coincidence it was also Chealsea, but they were playing one of our local teams. (Chelsea won) Yes, you'll probably be cold so I'd wrap up, but in the end it wasn't nearly as gruesome as I'd feared - I almost enjoyed it.

Valentines Day for us is our #2 son's birthday! Can't remember the last time we went out on V. Day, as coping with a bunch of little horrors for a few hours, after 2 days worth of baking generally leaves me dead on me feet! Although, as we have NO babysitter, I can't remember the last time we went out anywhere!

I love Valentines day, we won't go out on 'that' night... I will not have an expensive restaurant telling me I can have a table only if I am out by 9pm and then they have the nerve to offer a 'special' menu- for special read - reduced..... it makes it more easy for them. ship them in, ship them out.....so very romantic - not!
            so
            I like to be inventive
lay out a rug in front of the fire
candles, soft music, good cheese and wine :-)
you get the idea, just use your imagination it's so much better than rip off restaurant.
Mr HF and I will go for a meal out later in the week, full menu and no time limit

I love it too- candlelit meal for any family member who wishes to join us.
              Mostly red food !

OH is ill at the moment with the flu bug, so it looks like a quiet night in and a bowl of red , bland soup!
              - Maybe I should buy him a red hot water bottle to cheer him up????

If he really loved you he would be taking you to see a rugby match.

LadyWayne knows I love her - regardless of the day. I don't need an excuse to buy flowers, or take her out for a meal (or cook one for that matter). On her insistance this year we're not bothering with presents or going out for a meal, or flowers. I might have a card for her though...
