I used to look forward to Valentine day especially when I was a teenager (when love is so sweet) but as you get older and if you feel secure in a relationship, you don't really need reminders in flowers, expensive meal out and maybe even cards (oh gawd, only get recycled) but I think chocolate is still the best gesture/treat and heart warming. Even then I've specifically requested to opt out of all these as we still have Christmas chocolates and bought loads more from sale .

But I think you should try to eat something special at home for dinner. I object to restaurants as I feel you could probably still splash out on champagne and lobster for the price of restaurant meal (exclusive type) in this country. If I were in France or any other country for that matter, I would have certainly gone out for a meal . I still haven't decided what I want but most likely I ain't cooking tonight so will opt for Chinese or Indian takeaway, any excuse to indulge, eh ?

I lost our house keys recently which resulted in the back door lock having to be changed. As I'm notorious for losing/mislaying my keys he got me one of those beepy whistle things that make a noise so you can find them. I thought that was romantic, but truth is he's probably fed up of having to help look for them!!

before this job I owned a restaurant and hated Valentines day with an all consuming passion especially if it fell on a Saturday, about the only part that helped get me through it was watching the ladies order the most expensive items and their dates faces when it was time to pay, and yes we had a special menu and 2 hour time slots per couple unless there was 4 of them and they could have the table as long as they wanted.
