Edit: sorry, not meaning to sound unsympathetic but you need to be more proactive here - and if you had a couple of days off to recover, would it be the end of the world? If you go under the Clapham Omnibus this evening, bet you within 48 hours somebody else would be worrying about Germany, your presentations etc.
Unfortunately there is nobody else to do my job - I've been asking for an assistant for ages, been promised one "soon". I'm a one-man department.

Thanks for the advice regarding food Tony.

Yeah, that's how I feel. Really rubbish innit! My kidney area aches, the back of my neck aches - even my legs weirdly enough. I reckon a nice early night and plenty of sleep will sort me out!

Now you're aching Wayne it sounds like it could be 'real' flu ! Either that or you've strained your muscles when throwing up ( sounds nasty when you write that!). Go home & take it easy, go to bed with a hot water bottle & let Lady Heywayne make a fuss of you!
P.S. when's your article on conrete published, OH. doesn't get the mag. at work anymore so I'll rifle through a copy in W.H.Smith's!

yes but alcohol dehydrates the system and vomiting dehydrates therefore replace fluids but not with alcohol.....you know how men think any excuse for a beer

Being poorly is horrid! Let Lady HW make a fuss of you and really, don't go to work tomorrow if you feel rotten. It may be a pain to catch up later but honestly, Western Civilisation will not collapse if you have a day or two off!

I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

You could try eating GingerNuts (the biscuits, not people!), ginger is great for a dodgy tummy. Also peppermint tea can be good.
                  Hope you feel better tomorrow

Better thanks HF, still getting the stomach cramps and my aches have gone down. Amazing what a good night sleep does innit. Seem to have developed an annoying cough now though...

My OH has this last week and he is never ill - it took a week for him to get over it - fingers crossed yours is nearly over.

Incidentally - did your editorial come out - I was reading CN from a few weeks ago and read last week's but still not seen it??? Did I miss it?

No, I think it's published next week to coincide with the exhibition. I don't think the piece will have my name accredited to it, just simply the company name. It's only a 400 word piece, but I'll still keep a copy, you know, for posteriorty and all that.

Try a drink of lemon juice, honey and hot water for the throat, a ginger tea for the tummy (slices of ginger with hot water over them - strangely warming too) and a hot water bottle for all those aches. Mind yourself (and sorry for ribbing you on the other thread, didn't realise you had deteriorated overnight )

Eh? Hadn't noticed any ribbing? What thread? Where? Que? Don't mention it. Pardon?

You make it sound like I'm really ill. It's just a stummy bug, but thanks anyway.

I don't think my OH is a real man. He goes to work with migraines (making our daughter drive him there and back), a slipped disc and even once after trying to prevent a robbery at work and being knocked down by the get-away car. I think at least in the latter instance his boss would have been understanding. He does do the whole 'look like a severely depressed bloodhound' thing though if he has a bit of a cold, so there must be some male genes in there somewhere.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
